Here are the tasting notes for our wines:
Fabre Montmayou Gran Reserva Malbec 2016 92 points
Bright, dark, ruby. Perfumed, slightly high-toned aromas of blackberry, licorice, wild herbs and black pepper. Dense, brooding black fruit and licorice flavors show good peppery lift and energy without going green. This wine stands out for its definition of flavour, and possesses the spine to evolve slowly. These Bodegas Fabre wines are all quite suave and well-made, and this 2016 Malbec is another superb example of its cooler vintage.
Fabre Montmayou Cabernet Franc Reserva 2017 91 points
Bright red-ruby. Pungent, lively aromas of black raspberry, blackberry, licorice and espresso. Dense, refined and light on its feet; a very ripe, smooth, fine-grained Cabernet Franc with well-judged oak and enticing sweetness to its dark berry fruit and forest floor flavors. Finishes very long and suavely tannic. In a fairly plush, ripe, chocolatey style but very Cabernet Franc in character, given shape by harmonious acidity.
Fabre Montmayou Malbec Reserva 2017 90 points
Bright ruby-red. Blackberry, boysenberry, black cherry and spices on the nose, along with a cool leafy note suggestive of Cabernet and an element of violet lift. Juicy, fine-grained and alive, conveying a moderately penetrating quality to its perfumed flavors of dark berries, pepper, licorice and spices. The subtle floral element carries through on the palate. Finishes with a firm but fine dusting of tannins and very good length. Nice energy here, and no unneeded sweetness; in fact, this well-balanced and concentrated Malbec is rather uncompromisingly dry.
